Every summer when interns join OOCL for 10 weeks, I think back to how I began my career in shipping as an intern at Waterman Steamship in New York City. My first real job was a pricing clerk with Seatrain Pacific which was bought by OOCL. More than 30 years have passed, and I am truly fortunate that not only was I given an opportunity to work in New York, Chicago, Pleasanton, back to New York and then San Ramon – I also had a chance to work in numerous functions: Pricing, Sales, Intermodal Operations, Customer Service, Transpacific Westbound and Transatlantic.

During my business trips to OOCL’s world headquarters in Hong Kong, I learned that Take It Personally is not only a slogan but a way of life that is embedded in our culture and practiced by our trusted and caring colleagues at every level of the organization. Moreover, I learned quickly that OOCL people and OOCL customers are what we value most as we strive to innovate and drive for quality service. Over the years many milestones have been realized, but none more rewarding than serving our customers, and working with my colleagues to develop processes and procedures to differentiate ourselves and improve profitability. I am honored and very proud to be a member of the OOCL family.
