In today’s global trade environment, companies must exercise particular caution when agreeing on payment terms. With financing choices that include staged payments, open terms, letters of credit, sight drafts, and time drafts, importers and exporters need to understand up front the true implications of their credit policies and practices. While briefly discussing the options available for payment terms between sellers and buyers, this course will focus on best practices related to negotiation, creation, and execution of letters of credit. Beneficial for importers, exporters, bankers, and 3PLs, industry expert Dan Gardner will go into detail on letters of credit components that include key clauses, documentation requirements, and how to avoid amendment and discrepancy fees.
