TPMTech: The Future of VC Tech Investment

We’ve passed the decade mark of venture capital’s fascination with the logistics industry, and more broadly, supply chain. Taking stock of where things go from here is tricky, because certain factors are impacting the VC environment at large, not just in logistics. But several dynamics seem clear: investors understand the digital intermediary model very well; there is a focus on finding a path to profitability overgrowth at all costs; and that the sugary high of the pandemic obscured the reality that logistics is all about long sales cycles and price sensitivity that appear at odds with the goals of venture investment. Layered on top of that are nuances within the venture world itself, with a flood of funds emerging during the pandemic giving way to more specialist funds and corporate venture groups. In this session, S&P Global’s head of ventures will discuss the state of the market with a group of supply chain-focused investors.
