About Breakbulk & Project Cargo

The annual Breakbulk and Project Cargo Conference, “Breakbulk25,” organized by The Journal of Commerce within S&P Global Market Intelligence, is the premier, senior-level conference and networking venue for the breakbulk and project cargo shipping and logistics community. The 2025 edition will be held April 23-25 in New Orleans.

Founded three decades ago and reestablished by the Journal of Commerce in 2019, Breakbulk25 is based on an editorially independent, data-driven and rigorous conference program developed by the JOC's journalists and analysts -- subject matter experts covering international transportation and logistics -- in collaboration with senior leaders across the industry.

Breakbulk25's in-depth conference program delves into the most pressing challenges affecting breakbulk and project cargo shippers in North America and globally, while the conference’s Breakbulk Academy sessions, including a reprise of the interactive 2024 Project Cargo Case Study, provide a unique opportunity for industry newcomers, veterans and students alike to learn from top industry experts.

Breakbulk25 attracts the most specialized project and breakbulk cargo maritime audience in the industry. In addition to presenting the conference program, Breakbulk25 serves as a platform for essential and intensive networking, negotiations, and relationship-building within the project and breakbulk logistics supply chain. Shippers, carriers, forwarders, land transport providers, technology providers, ports, terminals, railroads, and others who participate in this market all have the opportunity to interact in an environment enriched by of-the-moment ideas, data, forecasts and debate.

Breakbulk25 is the only event the Journal of Commerce produces for the breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargo maritime market. Breakbulk25 supports but is not affiliated with the Breakbulk Americas, Breakbulk Europe, and Breakbulk Middle East exhibitions.

The Journal of Commerce, founded in 1827 and part of the global information company S&P Global Market Intelligence, is the leading specialized information provider in international transportation and logistics, led by JOC.com and its independent, authoritative coverage of the end-to-end international supply chain, including breakbulk, air and ocean, ports, trucking, intermodal, and technology.
