Executive Vice President, Import

Tom Hughes is an accomplished senior executive with over 20 years’ experience in the maritime industry. In his role as executive vice president, Import, Hughes oversees all USA imports for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, based in New York. Building on two decades of MSC’s experience, Hughes has been instrumental in helping MSC cement its position as a trusted provider of container shipping services in the United States. Prior to this role, he was national trade manager for MSC, responsible for the overall management of the company’s trans-Pacific service in the US. He joined MSC in July 1998, and his former positions with the company include serving as a line manager in New Orleans and as district manager, first in Oakland and then in Los Angeles. Prior to joining MSC, Hughes worked with D.E. Turncliff & Associates Ltd. He has a degree in economics and finance from the University of Texas at Dallas.

How will the past two years impact carrier-shipper relationships in the future? This session, wrapping up the TPM22 Cool Cargoes track, will feature a roundtable discussion with some of the world’s largest ocean carriers and unpack many of the questions shippers have for carriers.
