Following the unmitigated supply chain disaster and out-of-control pricing from 2020 to early 2022, refrigerated shippers wrung a lot of costs out of their supply chains in 2023. While that has certainly improved balance sheets and profitability, there are still plenty of problems on shippers’ plates, from cloudy supply chain visibility and service issues to changing consumer tastes and geopolitical strife. And that doesn’t even account for the unpredictable economic environment. This is a time for shippers to take stock and plan for what could be a stronger economy sometime in 2024.
